Worx WG779E.2 40V 34cm Cordless Lawnmower
Worx is my go-to brand for gardening tools. They offer reliability, reasonable pricing, and quality batteries. I like to use the most eco-friendly tools I can for my gardening company, so I use cordless lawnmowers and other battery-powered tools.
The WG779E is a great model but only suitable for some situations.
Who should buy a Worx WG779E.2 cordless lawnmower?
Although a capable cordless lawn mower, the Worx WG779E.2 is best suited to medium-sized lawns up to 250m2 on one charge. I use this model personally as a Gardener in suburban UK, and it is more than capable.
The Worx WG779E depends on battery life. Therefore, buying the larger Worx batteries can extend the user’s time. Notably, this model has a cutting width of 34cm.
Some stand-out features make the Worx WG779E very competitive in its range.
Specifications & features
Things we like about the Worx WG779E.2 lawnmower
Worx Batteries
Worx uses quality batteries which have a long runtime and charge quickly. The latest models also have charge indicators, allowing you to check if they need charging at the push of a button.
Edge-to-edge grass cutting
Nothing is more annoying when mowing lawns than a model that leaves a small strip of long grass. Edge-to-edge cutting makes it easy to line up your lawn mower and achieve a flawless finish.
The Worx WG779E.2 Lawnmower also has six cutting heights ranging from 20mm to 70mm.
30L capacity catch bag with a full bag indicator
With a 30L catch bag, you won’t need to make as many trips to the compost pile as with other models in this range.
The catch bag also has an indicator flap that opens as air passes. When the bag is full, the indicator is closed.
The indicator does not work so well when mowing wet grass, but wet grass is not ideal for mowing in the first place.

Integrated roller
Who doesn’t love a striped lawn? The integrated roller on the WG779E.2 gives your garden lawn a professional finish that will envy your neighbours.
Light and easy to store
Being compact, light, and easy to transport are some essential aspects for me, as I need to be able to easily transport my lawn mower to jobs.
The Worx WG779E.2 Lawnmower weighs only 11.1kg (without batteries), and the durable folding handles make it compact for storage.
Three-year Warranty (Registration required)
If anything should go wrong with your cordless lawn mower, Worx offers a 3-year warranty for its products and even a 1-year warranty for its products when used for commercial jobs.
Both warranties require registration within 30 days of purchase.
Things we don’t like about the Worx WG779E.2 lawnmower
It is hard to fault the Worx WG779E.2 lawnmower. It performs better than other models in the same price range.
However, there is one aspect that I do not like, although it has yet to cause any issues.
The safety switch uses a plastic toggle that you must slot in before using. This toggle has a weak point, which is also secured by a lead that could be cut off and lost.
Losing this toggle or damage could render the lawn mower unusable without a replacement.
What is Intelli-cut technology?
Intelli-cut technology allows the Worx WG779E.2 cordless lawn mower to sense long grass in front of it. The motor then receives more torque and power to help cut through the taller grass.
Other brands may only utilise one constant power setting, which is not power efficient.
The Worx WG779E.2 lawnmower helps maximise battery life by delivering more power when needed.
Older Worx models have a Turbo or Eco switch instead of Intelli-cut technology.
Amazon Reviews
David T. – ‘Ordered via Amazon Prime and the price I paid was also the cheapest I’d seen. It came well packed , assembly was very easy and intuitive and done within 15 mins w/o the need to refer to the instruction manual. The batteries (x 2 ) needed charging out of the box.
My main reason for purchase was to replace a larger and heavier petrol self propelled mower – the WORX Cordless is much lighter and easier to maneuver and i don’t have to faff about with petrol cans, pull start cables and throttle adjustments , but the WORX has a narrower cut and a smaller grass collection box vs. my petrol mower so it takes longer to cut the grass…’
Anon – ‘This lovely little cordless mower is as revolutionary to my garden as my cordless Dyson was to my house. No more cables to navigate. It cuts well (but wish it would cut shorter), leaves lovely stripes thanks to the roller, and is quiet with a pleasing on/off sound. It is easy to move around and deals with wet and long grass well. The battery life is good, lasting long enough on eco mode to do a 10m x 10m lawn twice over. Not quite once over on turbo but I can’t see any difference in the cut so may as well use eco. It all feels solid and easy to use. The battery charging unit and the way the batteries slot in is excellent, even for a non-technical/manual person like myself…’
Acakegoddess – ‘I had a petrol one for years but wanted something lighter that didn’t need servicing every year. I have lots of worx tools so this is great addition to my collection. Easy to assemble (according to other half!) I found I needed four batteries worth for my lawns (but I have spares so had 4 ready to go) sliced though the winter overgrowth with ease and easy to clean-up and store. I’ll use it every week just to keep the grass/moss 🙄 at bay. I’m super impressed with it for a little lawnmower 👍🏽’
Where to buy Worx Lawn Mowers?
You can buy Worx lawn mowers on Amazon or from the Worx website. If, like me, you have an Amazon Prime membership, then why not make the most of the free and reliable postage and buy it from Amazon?

Where are Worx lawnmowers & tools manufactured?
WORX products are distributed by the Positec Tool Corporation, a manufacturing company based in Suzhou, China, with its North American headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Summary

Compared to other models in the same price range, the Worx WG779E.2 has stand-out features and is my choice for lawn maintenance at home and on a job as a gardener.
