How to Use the Plant Library

Use the Plant Library as a quick reference when planning your garden, allotment, raised beds, or small growing space.

Start by searching for a crop by name, or use the category filters to narrow the list by crop type. Each crop card gives you the key details at a glance, including typical spacing, sun requirements, maturity time, companion planting notes, and crops to avoid planting nearby.

The Grow Guide button takes you to a full growing guide where one is available. Use this when you want more detail on sowing, planting, feeding, harvesting, pests, or common problems.

The Plan This button lets you move from research into layout planning, so you can start building a practical growing plan without jumping between pages.

What the Plant Library Is For

This Plant Library is designed to help you compare crops quickly before deciding what to grow and where to put them.

It is especially useful when you are:

The aim is to keep crop planning simple. Instead of opening lots of separate guides just to check spacing or maturity times, you can browse the main details in one place, then open the full guide only when you need deeper advice.

For a full layout tool, use the Backyard Farmer Allotment Planner. For month-by-month sowing guidance, use the UK Vegetable Planting Calendar.
