The main caveat is that the Deluxe uses a PWM charge controller, not MPPT. PWM can be adequate for a simple lead-acid battery system, but MPPT generally extracts more energy from the same panel, particularly in cooler, cloudy or changeable conditions.

The Deluxe makes sense if you already have a straightforward lead-acid leisure-battery setup or if it is substantially cheaper than the alternatives. PWM is a simple, established technology and can work adequately when the panel, controller and battery are correctly matched.
For a new single-battery installation, we would generally pay the modest extra for the MPPT version where possible. MPPT controllers can make better use of the panel’s operating voltage and may provide more useful charging performance in cool, cloudy or variable conditions.
Choose a Duo version only if you specifically want to charge both a leisure battery and the vehicle’s starter battery. If you only need to charge one battery, the Duo models add cost and complexity without a meaningful benefit.
What Can a 100W Solar Panel Realistically Power?
The panel does not normally power appliances directly. It replenishes the leisure battery through the charge controller, and the battery then supplies your lights, pumps, USB sockets and other 12V equipment.
A 100W system can be useful for:
- Maintaining a leisure battery while parked
- LED interior lighting
- Charging phones, tablets and other USB devices
- Small 12V accessories and water pumps
- Weekend campervan or caravan trips
Actual output varies with cloud, shading, panel angle, dirt, cable losses, battery condition, season and daylight hours. A 100W panel should therefore be viewed as a battery-charging and maintenance system rather than a complete off-grid power solution.
It may struggle to replace all the energy used by a regularly running compressor fridge, frequent inverter use, heating fans, high-power appliances or several days of winter off-grid use. Kettles, coffee machines and similar appliances can consume more energy than the panel replaces on a poor-weather day.
For heavier use, consider a larger solar array, a larger battery bank or another charging source such as a mains charger or DC-to-DC charger. Sunstore positions roughly 100–150W as a sensible range for many UK campervans, but this remains a general guide rather than a guarantee of output.

Battery Compatibility
Check the controller’s charging profile before connecting a battery. Traditional flooded lead-acid, AGM, gel and lithium batteries can require different settings.
The supplied ViewStar AU should not automatically be assumed suitable for a lithium battery. Confirm that the controller supports your battery chemistry and that the correct charging profile can be selected before connecting it.
Installation: What Is Involved?
This is a complete installation kit, but it is not a plug-and-play appliance. Installation normally involves bonding the panel brackets to the roof, fitting the cable-entry gland, routing the cable, connecting the controller to the battery and installing the supplied protection.
The controller should be mounted somewhere dry, accessible and reasonably close to the battery, with adequate ventilation. The roof must be clean and dry, and the bonding product must be applied and cured according to the instructions.
